Resources
I guess it's about time I started posting information to this
page. Here's a start. I plan to add much more over time.
Chinook Clubs
Great sources of general information about the breed.
Chinook
Club of America (CCA)
Recently gained AKC Parent Club status. The Chinook breed is
currently a Foundation Stock Service (FSS) breed with the AKC, which
means they house our pedigree and ownership records. Many in
the Chinook breed are working toward full AKC recognition.
This is a process that takes several years.
Chinook Owner's
Association (COA)
The UKC National Breed Club.
Chinook Dog
Club of America (CDCA)
Formerly known as Chinooks Worldwide. This club was
recently dissolved when the CCA became the AKC Parent Club. The
site is still up and running and contains a lot of interesting history
of the Chinook breed.
Chinook Discussion
Forum
The email-based forum called the Chinook-L
is a great way to learn more about Chinooks and all kinds of issues
affecting owners. Chinook events and shows are announced
frequently as well as breedings and litters. This can tend to
clog your email inbox, but you can opt for a once daily digest of the
postings to minimize the impact.
Health
The Orthopedic Foundation for Animals
(OFA) and the Canine Eye
Registration Foundation (CERF) keep records on the two health
screenings most vital to the Chinook breed. These sites allow you
to look up the results for specific dogs and offer lots of general
information about the disorders they screen for.
